Thornensians Announce Charity of the Season...

Thornensians RUFC has proudly announced Firefly as our official Charity of the Season, pledging our support to the local organisation that provides free transport for cancer patients travelling to and from hospital appointments. Firefly, a Doncaster-based charity, has become a lifeline for hundreds of families across the region by offering safe, reliable, and compassionate transport during one of the most challenging times in a patient's life.

The partnership with Thornensians RUFC will see the rugby club raise both funds and awareness throughout the 2025/26 season to help Firefly continue their vital work. Club Chairperson Richard Rooth said, "We're delighted to support Firefly this season. Many of our members and their families have been touched by cancer, and we know just how important it is to have dependable support during treatment. Firefly provides an incredible service, and we're proud to stand with them."

The club will incorporate a series of fundraising events into it's calendar, including our annual golf day on 26th July, sponsored challenges, and community outreach initiatives, all aims at helping Firefly to expand their fleet and reach more patients across the Doncaster area. We encourage fans, local businesses, and the wider community of Thorne and Moorends to get involved throughout, and help make a difference for those undergoing cancer treatment.
