Thornensians - a Brief Description.
Thornensians Rugby Union Football Club is a long-established community rugby club based in Thorne, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, proudly serving the town and surrounding villages since 1939. Located on Church Balk, close to Trinity Academy Secondary School, and within easy reach of the M18, M62 & M1, the club is easily accessible to players, supporters, and visitors from across the region.
Affiliated with both the Yorkshire Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football Union (RFU), Thornensians R.U.F.C. runs Senior XVs, Colts, and a developing Junior and Mini section, reflecting its commitment to player development and inclusive participation across all ages and abilities.
The club benefits from two well-maintained pitches, with the main pitch featuring pitch-side spectator areas that create an excellent match-day atmosphere. The modern clubhouse includes a welcoming bar, catering facilities, and a large function space used for social events, pre-match lunches, and community gatherings.

Beyond rugby, the club plays a key role in community life, regularly hosting charity events, fundraisers, and family activities that strengthen ties with Thorne and the wider Doncaster area. Its motto, “Once a Thornensian, always a Thornensian,” reflects the lasting pride, loyalty, and spirit that define the club both on and off the field.
