☀️🏉 HELP US POWER THORNE RUGBY CLUB WITH SOLAR!
Our - Thornensians RUFC x Energy for Tomorrow - Solar Crowdfunder is LIVE!
After months of planning, the wait is finally over! Our exciting Thornensians RUFC x Energy for Tomorrow - Solar Crowdfunder is now officially open — and we need the support of our fantastic rugby family, local community, former players, supporters and friends far and wide.
Our target is £8,586, which will help us take an important step towards installing solar panels at the club, reducing our energy costs and creating a more sustainable future for Thornensians RUFC.
But there is an even bigger reason to get behind the campaign...
💚 YOUR DONATION COULD BE WORTH EVEN MORE!
Thanks to British Gas Energy for Tomorrow, eligible donations to our Crowdfunder can benefit from £3 of British Gas match funding for every £1 donated.
There is a limit, however, on how much of each individual's support can count towards the Crowdfunder target and receive match funding.
How does it work?
You can support our campaign as many times as you like, but only your first two donations will count towards our main Crowdfunder target, up to a combined maximum of £250.
This means that an individual supporter can potentially generate up to:
£250 from you + £750 British Gas match = £1,000 towards our solar project! ☀️
For example:
| Your qualifying donations | Amount counting towards target | British Gas match | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| £25 | £25 | £75 | £100 |
| £50 | £50 | £150 | £200 |
| £100 | £100 | £300 | £400 |
| £125 + £125 | £250 | £750 | £1,000 |
| £250 | £250 | £750 | £1,000 |
You don't have to stop at £250!
If you'd like to donate more than £250, or make further donations after your first two, we'd absolutely love your continued support.
Although additional donations won't count towards the main Crowdfunder target or attract further British Gas match funding, they will still go towards energy projects at Thornensians RUFC.
This could help us invest in future projects such as:
🔋 Additional energy storage batteries
💡 More energy-efficient pitch floodlights
☀️ Further renewable energy generation
💡 Energy-efficient lighting around the clubhouse
⚡ Other projects designed to reduce our energy consumption and long-term running costs
🎁 DON'T FORGET GIFT AID!
If you're eligible for Gift Aid, please remember to select the Gift Aid option when making your donation.
Gift Aid allows the club to claim an additional 25p for every £1 of eligible donation, at no extra cost to you.
So, for an eligible £100 donation, the club could potentially receive:
£100 donation + £300 match funding + £25 Gift Aid = £425
Match funding and Gift Aid are subject to eligibility and the relevant scheme terms and conditions.
⏰ WE HAVE UNTIL THE 24th OCTOBER!
This is a limited-time campaign and our Crowdfunder closes on 24th October.
That gives us a limited window to reach our target and unlock as much match funding as possible.
So please don't wait until the final few days.
If you can donate, please do so today. If you can't donate, you can still make a huge difference by sharing the campaign with others.
☀️ WHY ARE WE GOING SOLAR?
Running a rugby club costs money, and energy is one of our biggest ongoing expenses.
Like many grassroots sports clubs, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce our running costs while continuing to provide the facilities, equipment and opportunities that our players, members and community rely on.
Installing solar panels will allow us to generate our own renewable electricity and, over time, reduce the amount we need to buy from the grid.
The money we save on energy can then be put back into the club — helping us continue to invest in our players, teams, facilities, volunteers and the wider community.
This isn't simply about putting solar panels on the roof.
It's about investing in the long-term future of Thornensians RUFC.
