Thornensians RUFC’s Senior Men’s Squads are gearing up for the upcoming 2025/26 season with a full August Schedule.
Here’s what’s coming up:
Saturday 9th August – Barton & District (away) - 3pm K.O
The first competitive fixture of the season sees a combined 1st XV and Development Squad travel to take on Barton & District RUFC. This opening clash marks an important opportunity for the full senior section to make their mark, showcase form, and stake a claim for selection moving forward. It’s the first real test of the season and a valuable chance to trial combinations and build cohesion across the senior squad setup.

Saturday 16th August – Cleethorpes (Home) - 3pm K.O
In their second pre-season fixture, a broader Thornensians squad will welcome Cleethorpes RUFC to Coulman Road. Facing another Level 9 side—albeit from a different league—will offer a valuable benchmark for the squad, providing insight into where we stand ahead of the new season. It's another key opportunity to build momentum, test combinations, and fine-tune preparations.
Saturday 23rd August – Bank Holiday Social @ Coulman Road - 7pm K.O
With no game scheduled this weekend, the squad will take full advantage of the break with a valuable opportunity for some team bonding. A club social event is planned down at Coulman Road, giving players and members a chance to unwind, connect, and strengthen team spirit ahead of the season ahead.

Saturday 30th August – Gainsborough (Away) - 3pm K.O
Thornensians RUFC round off their pre-season campaign with an away fixture against Gainsborough RUFC. As a Level 8 side, Gainsborough will provide a tough and valuable challenge, offering the perfect test ahead of the competitive season.This match is expected to be a physical encounter that will demand focus, fitness, and discipline—just the kind of preparation Thorne need to ensure they hit the ground running for the opening fixture of the new season next week.
