Head Coach retires after 25/26 season
Today, everyone at the club would like to take a moment to recognise and thank James Fenwick as he steps down from the role of Head Coach.
It is impossible to put into words the amount of time, commitment, and hard work James has given to this club over the years. His contribution reaches far beyond the touchline and far beyond the role title itself.
James has been a player, a coach, a mentor, a supporter, and someone who has quietly helped keep the club moving in more ways than most people will ever realise. From preparing teams on matchdays, helping develop players, supporting volunteers, maintaining the grounds, giving up evenings and weekends, and always stepping in whenever something needed doing — James has consistently put the club first.
The impact he has had on players both past and present cannot be overstated. He has helped develop not only better rugby players, but better teammates and people. His passion for the game, his honesty, commitment, and care for the club have helped create an environment that people genuinely want to be part of.
Grassroots rugby survives because of people like James — people who give their time selflessly, often without recognition, because they genuinely care about the club, the players, and the wider community. The hours behind the scenes that nobody sees are what keep clubs running, and James has contributed more than his fair share for many years.
As a club, we are incredibly grateful for everything he has done as Head Coach, as a player, and for all the countless jobs and responsibilities he has taken on over the years. His dedication, loyalty, and hard work have left a lasting mark on the club and will continue to do so long after stepping away from the role.
While he may be stepping down as Head Coach, his contribution and place within the club will always be hugely valued. We know this won’t be the last time we see him around the club, and we are thankful for everything he continues to do for our rugby family.
From everyone at the club — players, coaches, volunteers, parents, supporters, and committee members — thank you James. Your efforts, sacrifices, and commitment have never gone unnoticed, and the respect people have for you is fully deserved.
We wish you nothing but the very best moving forward and look forward to sharing many more memories together at the club in the years ahead.
And whilst you may be stepping away from the Head Coach role… keep those playing boots handy — we’ve all got a feeling we’ll still be seeing you out on the pitch every once in a while 😉💙🖤🤍
